Matrox Mtx.utils version 5.1.2 (build 18) for AXIO and RTX2

Postby Support » Fri Apr 08, 2011 5:12 pm

Release 5.1.2 for Matrox AXIO and RT.X2 is now available for you to download.

Matrox Mtx.utils 5.1.2 provides the following new features for AXIo and RT.X2 products:

- Support for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 version 5.0.3
- Stability improvements, including improved RS-422 device control
- Unique new Matrox DVI Calibration Utility that provides a wizard to guide you through the process of color calibrating your DVI monitor so that it performs like a broadcast monitor. It walks you through a set of patterns that lets you effectively identify and compensate for five improper adjustments that may be present in your DVI monitor - true 1:1 pixel representation, white and black level, white point, gamma response, and hue and chroma.
- New functionality for Adobe Premiere Pro Multi-Camera workflows. You can choose between single-camera preview (active camera only) and quad-camera preview (all four camera previews) on your video monitor.
- Matrox WYSIWYG support for the 64-bit version of NewTek LightWave 3D 9.6, and the 32- and 64-bit versions of LightWave 3D 10.

Installation instructions

Important: Matrox Mtx.utils 5.1.2 replaces the Matrox Mx.tools 4.2.1 and earlier software for use with RT.X2 and AXIO products. You must therefore uninstall all previous Mx.tools software by choosing Start > All Programs > Matrox Mx.tools > Uninstall Matrox Mx.tools. When prompted, choose to remove the Matrox effect patterns. After uninstalling Matrox Mx.tools, you must also uninstall your Adobe CS4 software and upgrade to CS5 as follows:

* If you want to upgrade all your Adobe CS4 software to CS5, uninstall all your Adobe CS4 software, then install your CS5 software.
* If you don't want to upgrade all your Adobe CS4 software to CS5, you can uninstall only the Adobe software that you use with Matrox RT.X2 (such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Encore), and then install the CS5 versions of these programs.

Once you've removed Matrox Mx.tools and installed your Adobe CS5 software, you should also install any other third-party programs for which you want to install the Matrox WYSIWYG plug-ins, such as eyeon Fusion.

1. Download the following file to your hard drive: MtxUtils_512.exe1 (447 MB)
ftp://redirect:r45j99t3@hftp.matrox.com/private/mxo2/pc/5.1.2.18/mtxutils_512.exe

Note: When server traffic is heavy, you may be prompted to enter your user name and password to connect to the Matrox FTP server. This indicates that the maximum connection limit to the server has been reached. If this happens, click Cancel in the displayed dialog box, and then try the download again later.

2. Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions to install Matrox Mtx.utils.

3. If you want to set up Matrox wipes in your Adobe Premiere Pro sequences and you haven't yet installed the Matrox effect patterns for Mtx.utils 5.0, download the following file to your hard drive: MtxFxPatterns.exe2 (391 MB)
ftp://redirect:r45j99t3@hftp.matrox.com/private/mxo2/pc/5.1.2.18/mtxfxpatterns.exe

4. Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the Matrox effect patterns.

Installs Matrox Mtx.utils version 5.1.2 (build 18) for Windows. This release supports Adobe CS5 (with Adobe Premiere Pro 5.0.3).

Note: This version of Mtx.utils installs software for your AXIO and RT.X2 product as well as the Matrox CompressHD card, and includes the same features for CompressHD as provided with Mtx.utils version 5.1.1. You can therefore use your RT.X2 hardware with CompressHD.

DV Widescreen Pixel Aspect Ratio Issue with Adobe CS5

Postby Support » Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:28 pm

If you are experiencing an incorrect pixel aspect ratio (PAR) with DV Widescreen footage in a Matrox DV Widescreen sequence (NTSC or PAL), please change the Pixel Aspect Ratio of your clip through Adobe Premiere CS5's Interpret Footage functionality.

You can right-click the DV Widescreen clip in Premiere's Project bin, select Modify > Interpret Footage and under the Pixel Aspect Ratio > Conform to list, select D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121) or D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.4587)

Export delays with Adobe Premiere Pro & Media Encoder CS

Postby Support » Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:29 pm

to all MXO2 users,

If you find that switching the export format in the Export Settings dialog box sometimes takes a long time, such as when you switch from Microsoft AVI to MPEG2-DVD, rename the SurCodeWrapper.vca file on your system (for example, rename the file to SurCodeWrapper.vca.bak). This file is usually installed by Adobe Premiere Pro in the following folders:

\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\MediaIO\codecs\
\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\MediaIO\codecs\

Be aware that after renaming the SurCodeWrapper.vca file, you won't be able to export audio to SwCode Dolby Digital, but you will still be able to export audio to Dolby. (Ref# 55279 and Adobe Ref# 2603943)

PAL DV Field Inversion Issue with Adobe CS5

Postby Support » Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:29 pm

If you are experiencing field inversion issues on playback with PAL DV footage in a Matrox PAL DV sequence, please try to change the Field Order of your clip through Adobe Premiere CS5's Interpret Footage functionality.

You can right-click the PAL DV clip in Premiere's Project bin, select Modify > Interpret Footage and under the Field Order > Conform to list, select Upper Fields First.
